Hair cuts

Today the girls got their hair cut. Kylynn has been begging me all summer to cut her hair to her shoulders. So we did it! She looks so old now. Addisyn also got her hair cut. Her hair has been out of control this summer so we were looking for some sort of style for her. I'm very happy with it and now she actually looks like she has a little style going on.

A sad day

My grandma and Easton
(so happy that I have this picture)

I got the news late this afternoon that my grandma had passed away. We just found out she had cancer about a month ago and she declined pretty quickly. She had an aggressive kind of cancer and it was sad to know she was declining so fast. I am very happy that we had such a nice visit with her for my last time seeing her. We visited her 2 weeks ago to introduce Easton to her and she asked to hold him. I'm so happy that we have pictures of her smiling to remember her by.
Great Grandma, Easton, Kylynn, Addisyn, and Great Grandpa
I have wonderful memories of spending summers at my grandparents house, swimming in their pool and playing in their 5th wheel like it was our home. My cousin Stephanie and I would play house in the 5th wheel and we also gave our little cousin Cory rides on grandpa's riding lawn mower. I think one time we even put barrettes in Cory's hair and took pictures of him. I have some wonderful memories of my grandma and am so thankful for them. She is now walking the streets of gold with her daughter and grand-daughter. What a wonderful sight that would be.

Please continue to pray for my family as we prepare to say good-bye to her later this week.

Another year in the books...

We're home from another year at Hamlin Lake in Ludington. This year was so much fun to watch the girls, they really get it now, especially Kylynn. She loved swimming, fishing, and just spending time with grandma, grandpa, and her aunts and uncle. For those of you who read my sisters blog In my mind - the sun shines all the time... (wow I figured out how to link, yeah for me!) this is just a highlight of the week in photos, she will be much more extensive in her photos and postings, but as I say she's not chasing 2 kids and taking care of a newborn. Life is a little busy at the vugteveen home. But I love her and absolutely love her posts on her blog.

The girls just love spending time with Aunt Kari, Addi with Aunt Kari on the pier

Prayers are needed...

We got some upsetting news this weekend. A few weeks ago we found out my grandma had cancer and they weren't going to treat it, she is 80 years old. But this weekend we found out that it is very aggressive and that they only give her a week or a week and a half to live. Please pray for her comfort, she is in a lot of pain. Also prayers are needed for the family, many of you know about my mom's family and the strained relationships. I just pray that God is in control and that walls will be broken and relationships will be repaired or mended. I am leaning on Him to get me through this, He has a plan.

One Month

Easton is one month old today, crazy how time flies. It's hard to imagine our lives without him in it. He has brought such joy to our lives and will continue to bring us much more as he grows and changes. No more newborn clothes, the rolls are starting to develop and he's starting to smile. So excited for what the future holds for him. Will he like to play soccer or football, soccer if he's like his dad, football if he's after his mother's heart. Will he be a blonde or a brown haired little guy, I think blonde, I have always wanted a blonde, curly haired little guy. We praise God for our little guy and can't wait to see what he becomes! Happy One Month Little Guy!

finally!!!!

So I said I would post some pics last weekend, thinking I'd have my new laptop, well, I just got it today so now I have some pics to post. Enjoy some pics of what we've been up to. Easton is doing well, sleeping better at night, we're starting to learn how to handle the 8-10 fussy time at night. The girls are busy as ever. Kylynn got a new bike and is loving it. Addisyn is busy with her puzzles and they are both loving playing on the porch which is newly carpeted and all fixed from the leak we had back in December.

Addisyn loves doing puzzles

Easton is already 4 weeks old

Sleepover time with daddy on the back porch, the girls loved it and kylynn slept in until 10:00 the next morning, they talked about it for days afterwards and want to do another, they were upset they couldn't take their nap out there but it was a little too hot

Kylynn and her gymnastics coach - all done for now, maybe again this fall
Her first big girl bike, she absolutely glows when she rides it, she rode it down to her friends today and just beamed the entire way, until she started going to fast then she was a little scared, we need to work on using the brakes
My three beautiful blessings, first good pic I've gotten

my baby is 3 weeks old already

Easton Marc is 3 weeks old today, wow, time flies. As I sat here on the couch tonight I enjoyed him snuggling in on my chest and falling asleep. I was at a friends house today and her little guy is 10 1/2 weeks old and he no longer snuggles in like Easton does. She reminded me of that so I took a little extra time to enjoy the snuggles from my little guy tonight.
He is doing awesome and eating really well. We went to the doctor on Tuesday for his 2 week check up and he weighs 11 lbs 4 oz and is 22 1/4 inches long. So he has gained over 2 pounds in 2 weeks and he's grown 3/4 of an inch. He was off the charts for weight and in the 97th percentile for height. I was told that mommy was feeding him well, great to hear.
I'll update some more photos this weekend and life will be much easier come next week in blog world for me. We bought a laptop for me earlier this week and I'll be able to pick it up next week, YEAH!!!! I'm super excited to finally have my own computer, then I won't have to use my hubby's or my sister's which will make them happy. I'll have my own to use whenever I want:)

Easton's 1st bath

As was true with the girls, Easton was not a fan of his first bath. He screamed the entire time. J was a little worried he would shower us so he stood guard with a paper towel. We had success though, a bath with now spraying. Once he was snuggled up in his towel and with mommy he calmed right down. Looking forward to when he enjoys his bath, it's not fun to watch him cry as we bathe him.

Happenings as of late...

It's been pretty busy around here, dentist appointments, gymnastics, swimming dates, and lots of visitors. We love all of the visitors and enjoy showing off our little guy. The calendar seems to fill up quickly and I sometimes look forward to a day at home. We're looking forward to our vacation in less than two weeks, time with family and just relaxing in the sun.

Easton is already over 2 weeks old, can't believe he's only been a part of our family for 2 weeks, can't imagine our life without him. These days he enjoys his swing and now his bouncer. His sisters beg to hold him and he sleeps pretty good during the day. Last night was rough but he will go for 3 - 4 hour stretches and allow his mommy to get some sleep.
