worth a try

One of my favorite things at Easter is deviled eggs. Earlier in the week I had talked to a friend about making them and she said just to look up a recipe in any cookbook. So who better to use but Betty Crocker, well that was a waste! I cut each egg, after my wonderful sister peeled them all for me, well almost all of them. Scooped out the yolks and then mashed them up. Mixed them with dry mustard, mayonaise, salt and pepper. Well, let's just say I followed the recipe to a 'T' but they were the worst things I've ever tasted. I actually spit it out! It was awful! I was so incredibly disappointed and felt bad because everyone else was looking forward to them, all but Mom, who dislikes eggs, how can you dislike eggs? Anyway. I am in need of a good deviled eggs recipe so if you'd like to share I'd be happy to accept with open arms. Maybe I can redeem myself next year!

Kari helped me peel the eggs!

Yolks, eggs, finished product, looks go0d-tasted awful!

Easter Blessings

We enjoyed our time in Traverse City with my parents, sister, and Dustin. We were able to see some friends and just relax. Being able to worship on Easter with my parents and spend time with them was special. I have to admit I got rather emotional at church yesterday. Two of my favorite Easter songs were the first songs sung and they always remind me of my Grandma. She loved to sing and we spent many Easter Sundays in church with her. So singing those songs brings me right back to those times with her. I couldn't help but think, what an awesome Easter it was for her this year, praising God in Heaven, what a wonderful thing that must be. But it also makes me miss her.

As I sit here writing for this post I just can't thank God enough for the beautiful family he has blessed me with. All of the sins I have committed he has taken the wrath for and for that I am ultimately grateful! So I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter and has felt rejuvenated to go forth and spread His Word! Happy Monday!

Easter Fun

We headed over to Grand Traverse Commons for an Easter Egg hunt. Our first ever Easter Egg hunt, and probably our last. It was not very fun for the girls. There were not enough eggs and the space was not very big for the kids to be able to run and have fun. For the most part the girls got eggs cause someone dropped one or shared with them. We decided next year we're doing our own with friends. To top it off the candy was nothing the girls liked. They had salt water taffy and sour lemon heads, yeah, nothing good for 3 and 4 year olds. Oh well, it was fun to see Lauren and Camden and it got us outside for a little while. The sun did manage to pop out at one point so it made for a nice time.

Dinner with the parents

J and I took my mom and dad out to dinner Saturday night at Apache Trout Grill in TC, it was fantastic. I had bbq salmon and it was delicious. We enjoyed our time with my parents, just the four of us, very quiet and enjoyable. Thanks to my sister for watching the kids, we really appreciated the time away.

A new little friend

This past weekend we were in TC and Kylynn and I got the chance to meet our friends new little guy, less than 2 weeks old. With Trev and Trish living in TC we usually don't see the new babies for a few months, especially when there are sick kids. This time the timing was perfect. Kylynn and I both got to hold little Carson. Trish and I were able to have a great time talking while Trev took Lauren, Kylynn, and Cam up to the playground. I got my newborn fix for awhile. Congrats again Trev and Trish, he is precious!

Waterpark Fun

We headed north with J's family for a fun night at Avalanche Bay. The girls and I made some snack mix and we packed the car and headed off to Boyne Mountain. We made it just in time to unload the car with everyone else. We unloaded our stuff in our rooms that we were upgraded to due to the craziness and headed off to the water park. The girls swam for a few hours and then it was back to the room for some snacks before bed. They were up and ready to go the next morning. After some breakfast we loaded up the car again and headed to the water park. The girls swam for a few hours, we had some lunch, they swam a little more and then it was off to TC. It was an enjoyable time with their cousins and playing in the water.

First of the season

We enjoyed the fist of many Moomers ice cream cones tonight! Oh was it delicious! Good thing I ran my 5 miles so I could enjoy every minute of it. So thankful they are open! The girls were so excited, not loving the cow smell when we got out of the car though. They were a little bummed the cows were sleeping already, didn't get to see them tonight. Maybe next time, cause there will be many more trips this spring and summer:) One of the first signs of summer, Moomers ice cream, love it! This means summer is right around the corner, 8 weeks to be exact! Yup back to work on Monday and only 8 more weeks, wow, can't believe how fast this school year has gone. Guess it helps that I didn't start till Nov 8. Anywho, here's to a fast 8 weeks!

spring break fun

The girls talked me into letting them take a nap together up in Kylynn's bed. It started out wonderfully, Kylynn was reading a book to Addi, check out the book. She was even asking her questions as she read, I think we may have a teacher in the making. It didn't last long though. They were having a little too much fun giggling and tickling each other. I went in and told them they needed to settle down and go to sleep. Well on the third trip in their room I had to have Addi go down to her bed. They weren't happy with me but as soon as she headed to her bed she fell asleep, the older one however ended up coming out and spending some time with her momma. Big sis was pushing Big E on the swing on the back porch. Buckle him in and he's good to go. He really enjoyed just chilling in the swing while they picked up the porch. Can't wait till it's warmer out and they can play out here more.

our little stinker

I know his eyes are closed but I love the shot, he scooted all the way over to the laundry basket and dumped my freshly folded sheets. Looks like we're in for some trouble.

Caught ya!

Just like his big sister Addisyn he seems to have gravitated towards the dvd's
He's so darn cute, but he's starting to get a little mischievious
