We headed out early this morning to find some Elk. The hubby had heard that Catalo0chee was the place to see the elk so off we went. It was a 2 hour drive as it was on the other end of the park than we were at. Lots of twists and turns and quite the drive, back roads and all. We were bound and determined to see some elk. Well, when we arrived we were quite disappointed, the field was empty. We thought it would be a drive or loop like Cade's Cove but not quite. Oh well, we made the most of it.
Cataloochee
We did find hundreds of butterflies
exploring a house at Cataloochee
Addisyn loved the butterflies and even held onto an injured butterfly for quite some time.

Our family, minus one, she was being a little stubborn
Wouldn't you know, as soon as we left the visitor center we spotted ourselves an elk.
Not happy it wasn't a male but it was an elk, so after 6 hours we did find an elk.
Another beautiful overlook, Kylynn Joy
