The Mighty Mac

It was a chilly day in Mackinaw City but we had to stop and take some pictures with the bridge in the background.  When we are traveling to the cabin we never are allowed to stop as we are on a time crunch to get there as fast as possible, so it was nice to stop and take some nice family pictures with the bridge.  I love how the clouds and the sky look different in each of the pictures, gorgeous!

On the way home the hubby had a brilliant, not so, idea to drive through the tunnel of trees, after rolling down the windows and feeling like I was going to show him my breakfast we finally made it out.  I do not recommend this drive at all, well maybe in the fall and it is a slow drive so don't be in a hurry.  At this point I was so ready to be home, needless to say I was not a very happy camper.

So happy to see more than trees

A night in a hotel

Trying to get caught up on some blogging, loving the trip back in time through our summer pictures.  I want to go back!  I had such an amazing summer with my kiddos and we sure did have fun!
After spending the day on the island we headed to our hotel, we stayed at the Best Western in St. Ignace with recommendations from a few people Jason booked us a room there.  There was an outdoor and indoor pool and a wonderful continental breakfast.  The kids were pretty excited to go swimming.
Easton loved kicking around with daddy

All done in the pool, off to our room

While I shopped in Mackinaw the kids found a playground to hang out at.  It bought me some time and a few more stores.  It also allowed them to get more wiggles out before our trip home.

Purchasing our fudge, they were so excited

watching them pour out a new batch of fudge, good entertainment

Mackinac Island with the Family

Sorry for the delay in posts, the first few weeks of school have been crazy and I have been exhausted. Finally getting into a routine I think.  One of the ways that my hubby got me to the UP in the summer was allowing us a day on Mackinac Island.  I was pretty excited to show the kids the island and the horses.  They just couldn't believe that there would be no cars.  On our way from the cabin to St. Ignace I checked facebook on my phone and saw that one of my besties and her family were heading to the island, what a fun surprise.  Our kids love to spend time together and don't get to see each other that often, so they were pumped.  We headed over from St. Ignace and were on the island by 1:00.  The kids ate their pbj sandwiches while waiting for the boat and Jason and I each had a banana and a protein bar to hold us over.
Waiting for the ferry.

On the ride to the island, it was raining so we had to sit below.

On the boat ride back it was raining but we got to go under the bridge so we headed up top.  The rain stopped but it was windy.  It was fun though for the kids to go under the bridge.

It was a fun day making memories with our kids.  They were excited to see the island and now it is off to St. Ignace to check in to the hotel and swim in the pool.

Cut River Bridge

Jason has always talked about the Cut River Bridge and how awesome it is.  So this time in the UP we decided to stop on our way to Mackinac Island and check it out.  It is just 20 minutes west on US 2 from St. Ignace.  The kids really liked it.
