Friends

Kylynn and Addisyn are so blessed to be able to spend the day with their friend Ellie, every Thursday. Ellie is right between Kylynn and Addisyn in age and they all play so well together. Last week they played beauty shop and Lindsay took the straightener to Addi's hair and curled Kylynn's. They both looked so absolutely adorable. It totally made me want to go get a straightener. I've been wanting to buy one for quite some time. I think it might happen sooner now. Plus, the kids at school have been saying that I should try straightening my hair. Thanks, I look like crap with curly hair. Kidding. Anyway, the girls love their friend Ellie and I am so happy they get to spend time with her and her mom and brother every week.

First Haircut

Our sweet friend and daycare provider gave Easton a haircut last week. It was long overdue. Jason had taken the trimmers to the side to get rid of some scraggly hair but the top needed to be trimmed terribly. I was nervous to cut it for quite some time because I didn't want to get rid of his curls but it looks so much better and it still curls. We are getting his picture taken on Thursday and I was nervous the curls would be gone, nope, still there with a little mouse.

We have a 20 pounder!

Easton went to the doctor today for his six month check up and he weighs 20 lbs 10 oz. Which is 97%, wow! He is 28 inches which is 90% so we've got ourselves a big boy. He did great for the doctor and loved watching him. No other problems to report, he's a growing, healthy boy!

Heaven's gain, our loss

On Friday while I was on my way to pick up my kids I received a phone call no one ever likes to receive. My dad called and said he had some bad news about Christina Klein. I was thinking, cancer, a car accident, never in my wildest dreams did I think she would take her life. That is just what he told me. I was hysterical, mind you I'm driving. My dad was crying, I was crying, he said Kristi be careful and I made it safely to my destination, but I was devastated.

(so sorry Kari, but I can't find any other pictures of our whole family with her)

Let me fill you in on how Christina came to be so special to our family. In '94 she ran for cherry queen and if you know our family that is something we have been very involved in. She became cherry queen and spent the year traveling with my parents because my dad was president of the cherry festival that year. She became the big sister I never had, our adopted sister and my parents adopted older daughter we would say. While walking through the airport or into an event heads would turn, she is absolutely beautiful and not only on the outside but on the inside as well. Through the years we have seen her at cherry festival events and she lived in Grand Rapids for awhile and Jason and I had the privilege of visiting shortly after she had Caroline. We had dinner with them and I remember her making a special braided chicken recipe, delicious. As a mom myself now I look back and think she went to all that trouble for us. Then again another memory I remember visiting her at the hospital after she had her 3rd child Michael. It was during Cherry Festival and I got to hold him. I had just learned the day before that I was pregnant for Addisyn and she was one of the first people I told. She was so excited for me. Every year I look forward to her Christmas cards because she was so involved in her children's lives and I enjoyed learning about what they were up to. Their family pictures were always fun to receive as well, they have a beautiful family. She also was so good to my children, for Addisyn's birth she sent us a book, which I went and found yesterday, titled You are all my favorites. She wrote the neatest note in there and it was just like her to be so caring and compassionate. She said that this is the book that she buys for all second time parents. I think I want to continue that tradition for her. I will never forget her handwriting, the most beautiful cursive handwriting. I will cherish that book.

I just can't believe that she was hurting so bad and is now gone. My heart is breaking for her family and for all that could have been.
Christina was such an amazing woman and I am still in complete shock that she is gone. She leaves behind her husband and three children, Carolyn, Carson, and Michael. Please be in prayers for her family and those whose lives she touched.

really, corn?

Since I've been back at work one of the things that I have been terrible at is sending show and tell items to school with Kylynn. I feel awful that I forget and so I'm making a conscious effort to not forget anymore. So next week Monday is show and tell day. She needs to bring in a picture of her favorite food. So on the way home today we were talking about it and she said her favorite food was corn, yup you heard it right, corn. The girl does love corn. So I told her she needed to look through some of mommy's magazines to see if she could find a picture of corn. No luck, so we resorted to taking a photo of her with a can of corn. We'll get the picture printed and put it in the back pack so it won't be forgotten on Monday. Sure is tough being a mom sometimes, doing my best though!

Some more firsts

Tonight the little guy joined us at dinner. We brought the highchair up out of storage and cleaned it off. Crazy that my baby is already sitting in the high chair. He sure enjoyed being by us. Another first, he tried some puffs, the infamous puffs. He thought they were pretty good. Putting them in his mouth was still quite a challenge but he sure was trying.

Got rolls?

Do you think he could add a few more rolls to these legs?

My baby is 6 months old!

Can you believe it, Easton is 6 months old already! Time has flown, I seriously can't believe that he is already 6 months. Life is busy with three and before you know it I won't have a baby any more. I'm trying to soak up as much as I can cause I know this is it. We feel very blessed with our three healthy children and our family is complete. Easton is such a happy guy and we just absolutely love him to death. He has brightened our lives more than we ever imagined. He hasn't had his 6 month check up we go next week so I'll be sure to update after that. I am very anxious to see how much he weighs as he has rolls upon rolls. We've his some milestones in the past few weeks so I'll fill you in on what he's up to and then treat you to some updated photos of him. I had a little fun tonight while feeding him and then taking his 6 month photos.

Chubby Bubby

While shopping in TC over the break I found this adorable onsie for Easton. I thought it was perfect, my little chubby bubby I call him. He is getting to be my little snuggle boy too. I keep saying little, who am I kidding he is CHUB-BY.

I love fun!

The girls got these cute outfits for Christmas from Auntie, I absolutely love them! It is so hard to find cute graphic tee's for little girls that aren't bratty, without skulls or stupid sayings. So I was very happy when they got these. Now for our photo shoot. First shot, Kylynn got a Leapster 2 for Christmas and loves it but so does her sister. Guess we know what to get her for her birthday. Then they started to get silly on me.

Are they tongue tied like their mother?
Those tongues aren't out very far.

The end of Christmas vacation

We had a pretty uneventful vacation. At the end we enjoyed some time at PlayWorld with the girls' cousins, Cambrey and Cole. The girls have been a few times but you can never get enough of PlayWorld. What a change from when there were there in April. They didn't even want me around. I had to keep my eyes on them so I didn't lose sight of them. And to end the year we trimmed up our big guy's hair. There were some stringy looking pieces so J took the trimmers to his hair. I had to put a lot of trust in him that he wouldn't touch the top, I love my boy's curls, no body needs to mess with them. The girls had a riot and played so hard they were sweaty when we left.

a special visitor

We had a special visitor the other day, thanks to my parents. They came into town to take my grandpa out for lunch and brought him over to the house. I was happy to see him, it is hard to get out to see him with our busy schedule and 3 little kiddos. He was even able to see Easton and hold him. I'm so glad we were able to visit with him and it just makes me want to put it in my schedule to make sure we get out to see him more. He is lonely and needs the company. When he left it was sad, he started to cry and I just know that he is missing my grandma terribly. Please keep him in your prayers.
